摘要
The purpose of the study was to ascertain the competencies necessary for effective consumption of goods and services and infer the implications of the findings to public health education in Engu state. The study utilized a survey design. Data were collected using questionnaire. Results show that less than 25% of the respondents possessed competences required of an informed consumer. The study advocated that pubic health education should be used to promote consumer competency in Nigeria, besides making consumer health education a core curriculum in Nigerian school system.
