摘要
The virtues as described in Aristotle's Rhetoric differ from their description in his Nicomachean Ethics. This is due neither to manipulation on Aristotle's part nor to a rhetorical necessity. The virtues of the Rhetoric complement those of the Nicomachean Ethics, introducing the question of the benevolence of the virtues and showing an active concern for the varied audiences of the rhetor, not as a morally neutral presentation, but so that truth, justice, and community may play a part in the political life of the city.
