The Outward Direct Investment of Chinese Enterprises: A Literature Review

This paper mainly summarized the literature about the outward direct investment (ODI) of Chinese enterprises both domestic and overseas since 2001. Using the internalization theory, resource-based review (RBV), and institutional theory, we reviewed on the literature which researched on the determinant factor of ODI, location choice, and entry mode choice, mainly to classify the factors. Also, we summarized the important research contribution. We integrated these three theories and pointed out the unique problem of Chinese ODI that need to be taken seriously. At the end, we pointed out the future research directions for Chinese ODI.
