摘要
The paper discusses the basic concepts concerning the main structural features of vitreous substances and the structural criteria for glass formation. The concepts under discussion are an outgrowth of further evolution of the R.L. Myuller and V.V. Tarasov ideas. It is shown that the presence of chemical bonds with a high degree of covalence in a material, polymeric character of the structure as a whole, and linkage of each pair of adjacent polyhedra predominantly via one bridging bond are the structural features that make possible glass formation at low supercooling rates.
