摘要：

The summary of the problematic of residual stress investigation in railway axles is given in the article. The requirements of the standard part EN 13281, concerning the performance of these tests and allowable limits are discussed. Some potential techniques for performing these tests are mentioned. Some investigations on axles with rolled surface are given and the results of residual stresses measurement on representative axle are documented.
