In the last twenty years, the increasing attention has been paid in the psychological literature to persons who passed through the high "risky" environment in their childhood but who stay practically intact by that. They use to be labeled as "invincible" or "resilient". The study sums up the knowledge concerning the mutual relation of risk and resilience on the basis of data given by the psychological literature and on the basis of clinical experience and own long-term follow-up studies of children growing up in the less favourable psychosocial conditions in the environment of own families or in the environment of non-familiar collective care, i.e. in the children's homes.
