摘要
In this work we have investigated the influence of plasticization (i.e. admixture of low molecular weight additives) on the picosecond range "fast-dynamics" of a glass forming polymer, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). We have investigated samples of plasticized and pure PVC by inelastic neutron scattering and broadband dielectric spectroscopy. Although the suppression of the beta relaxation by the plasticizer could be clearly verified by dielectric spectroscopy, the neutron scattering spectra did not show any change of the fast-dynamics. Therefore our results do not support a relationship between the fast-dynamics observed by neutron scattering and the beta relaxation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
