Archives and success - Let's keep going! (An assessment)

Successes in recent years in the archival field have been noticeable, but until recently, not measurable. How many of the aspirations of earlier generations of archivists, as expressed in this journal and elsewhere, have really been achieved? Concerns such as the impact of technology, the need for revised legislation, the development of records management, and education are all issues now prominent, and being examined. The work of the National Council on Archives and new sources of funding are also indicators of success. Increasing emphasis on the relevance of archives to the lives of all citizens is an important way of keeping archives at the centre of action.
