In this chapter, Dobbs analyzes both the impetus toward and resistance to the political incorporation of immigrants in Ireland. She demonstrates that while some local government bureaucrats in Dublin see the merits of engaging immigrants in electoral politics as voters and/or candidates, the political party activists who could play a role in that process are more resistant.
