摘要
Presently the most popular wind turbine is the Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), also major concern for the power system engineers. To maintain DFIG-based wind farm in service during any grid disturbances the key factor is the voltage stability. This paper presents the implementation of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) at the point of common coupling for the voltage stability issue in DFIG based wind farms interconnected to weak distribution system. Modeling and simulation of the system is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink platform for transient disturbances viz., LLLG fault, sudden load change and voltage sagging and swelling in the system. Analysis shows improvement in the overall bus voltages and the system becomes more stable with the use of STATCOM. It also prevents the wind turbine generators from going offline during and after the disturbance.
