The characterization of electroless nickel composite coatings before and after heat treatment

摘要
Many experimental factors were found to influence the co-deposition process, which led to some understanding of the mechanism. The effects of different heat-treatment processes on the coating layers of A356 Al-alloys before and after coating were studied. SEM, microhardness, and wear tests evaluated the coating properties. The results revealed that the reinforced particles as well as the heat treatment (annealing and normalizing) provide an improvement in the hardness and wear resistance, of the coatings. Also, there are modifications in the microstructure and morphology of substrate and coated layers due to the presence of reinforced particles or fiber, and also due to the heat treatment processes.
