Explosive accidents in the Federal Republic of Germany - An analysis of the accident rate and conclusions for the body of regulations

The Steinbruch-Berufsgenossenschaft trade association is the carrier of the statutory accident insurance for companies of the mineral-extraction industry in the Federal Republic of Germany. During the the last century, the management of the Steinbruch trade association has devoted special and constant attention to accidents caused by work with explosives and for many years kept special statistics on explosive accidents. The results are incorporated into the body of regulations of the trade associations, influence the further development of explosives and igniting agents, and play an integral role in the modem, intensive training that turns a blasting technician into a highly specialised expert.
