Recent results on the nucleon spin structure

In the context of the nucleon structure studies initiated at JINR by N.N. Bogoliubov, new data obtained in experiments the HERMES, DESY and COMPASS, and CERN laboratories are presented. They concern the polarized quark densities in longitudinally polarized nucleons, estimations of the possible gluon contribution to the nucleon spin, and measurements of the new spin dependent structure function transversity characterizing distributions of transversely polarized quarks in transversely polarized nucleons.
