3D design and optimization research of the arch dam based on CATIA

摘要
The paper proposes the model of cubic B-spline curve fitting with the central axis of parabola arch dam to solve the basic shape parameters of arch dam. The model utilizes Knowledge Engineering System of CATIA V5 to construct the Upstream and Downstream arch ring, and realizes the 3D modeling of arch dam based on the method of characters. To benchmark the performance, the shape optimization of the B-spline arch dam has been compared with the parabola arch dam. The results show that the proposed model of cubic B-spline on the arch dam design has better performance on stress distribution and pressure line adjustment, and stability of the arch dam. The system is based on CATIA V5 developing platform, embedded programming language VBA (Visual Basic Application), DAO (Data Access Object) as data management, and visualizes the 3D design of cubic B-spline arch dam.
