摘要：
In a close reading of Guy de Maupassant's story "Le signe" the relation between signs and the persons involved in the process of sign exchange is examined. The reading highlights the influence of this relation on what is happening in Maupassant's story. The sign conception resulting in this study is compared with the approach to Freudian slips developed in Sigmund Freud's Psychopathology of Everyday Life.
