Using a fuzzy set-point generator to improve the dynamic performance of a temperature process

摘要
This paper describes a prototype fuzzy function generator system that improves the performance of a state feedback controller for a temperature process. The system modifies the reference value (set-point) which modifies the response of the system when external disturbances exist, and also compensates the nonlinear effects of the process. The fuzzy function generator receives the temperature error and the change in temperature as inputs and produces a change in the reference or set-point value for the state feedback controller. Experiments show that the performance of a system with no function generator can be significantly improved with the addition of the fuzzy function generator in the loop. The settling time, of the state feedback controller with the fuzzy set-point generator, decreases compared with the state feedback controller.
