Three-dimensional oscillation of bubbly flow in a vertical cylinder

摘要
Experimental measurements and transient 3D calculations with two-fluid model were carried out for a two-phase flow in a vertical cylinder. The asymmetric flow that was observed both in the visualized and numerical results was caused by the oscillatory flow about the center axis of the cylindrical enclosure. The radial distribution of vertical liquid velocity at z = 0.17 m became the re-entrant shape in the center region, probably due to the rotating flow about the cylinder axis. The radial distribution of the standard deviation of liquid vertical velocity also became the re-entrant shape.
