摘要：
Diabetes risk increases with age due to changes in beta-cell function and increased insulin resistance and is one of the most common chronic medical conditions in the elderly. Diabetes management in this population requires a multidisciplinary, patient-centric approach due to wide heterogeneity in patients' health and functional capacities. Meticulous assessment of each patient before formulating a regimen and thorough patient education are keys to success in achieving glycemic goals, which should be individualized. Lifestyle modification is recommended for every patient.
