Sub-Carpathian sector located between Dambovita and Prahova rivers is composed of Mio-Pliocene formations, with a wide variety of sedimentary rocks wich influence and conditions on the position and characteristics of groundwater. Lithological constitution characterized by an alternation of permeable horizons (conglomerates, sandstones, gravels, sands) with impermeable horizons (clay and marl) with inhomogeneous thickness and the presence of faults, hydrocarbon resources and salt pits, have important influences to the distribution, reservoir conditions and chemical characteristics of groundwater. Mineral waters are characterized by a variable content of mineral and organic substances, falling within the category of chloride, sodium, bromine, iodine, sulphate and sulphide: chlorosodics waters, extended on the line Tintea - Baicoi - Floresti - Moreni - Gura Ocnitei - Razvad; sulphurous waters which is developing between Vulcana and Pucioasa; iodo-bromine mineral waters with a wide spread, due to oil structures. Some other mineral waters are such as wells of Vulcana, Varfuri, Moreni, Gura Ocnitei, Urseiu, Barbuletu. Because of curative mineral water capacity of the geographic area analyzed, they could be used to treat various diseases but also are not sufficiently valued for tourism, so only Pucioasa may be regarded as representative in this regard.
