摘要
Under severe conditions of high speed and loading, machine elements, namely, gears, traction drives, rolling bearings, wheels, etc. are used for a long time. Crossed helical gears are used to transmit motion and power between two non-intersecting and non-parallel shafts. The geometry of crossed helical gears gives the theoretical basis of the meshing of other gears. Hence it is great important to understand crossed helical gears. However, Crossed helical gears are known that the contact of teeth theoretically takes place at a point, but the contact point extends over a small ellipse due to elastic deformation under applying load. In addition, high sliding velocity along tooth trace seems to be influential. For above mentioned reasons, the gears are used for light loads only. But to make the most of its good features, it is important to improve the load carrying capacity of crossed helical gears.
