On China-ASEAN Oil and Gas Synergetic Cooperation in the Context of "One Belt and One Road" Strategy

Oil and gas cooperation between China and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) can be expanded because of the requirement of both sides' energy strategies, solid foundation for mutual trust, geographical relation, resource complementariness, and technology complementariness. It is an integral part of China's "One Belt and One Road" strategy and oil and gas security strategy. It is both sides' concern to grasp the historic opportunity, achieve better oil and gas synergetic cooperation, and obtain the win-win result. With the "One Belt and One Road" strategy as the synergetic platform, this paper analyzes the methods to utilize the strategic opportunity to optimize the cooperation basis, make the government play the leading role, and fully tap the potential of synergetic innovation, so as to achieve the oil and gas synergetic cooperation. The purpose is to propose certain useful suggestions for the breakthrough in China-ASEAN oil and gas cooperation, maintenance of oil and gas security, and realization of both sides' energy strategies.
