Cavity formation and accelerated plastic strain in T91 steel in contact with liquid lead

摘要
T91 steel specimens are annealed for 1 month at 525 degreesC in liquid lead. Up to 0.5% volume fraction of porosities are observed close to the sample surfaces. Steel platelets under fixed 4-point bending show a strong correlation between the density of cavities and the local stress, and accelerated stress relaxation. (C) 2003 Acta Materialia Inc.
