A Numerical and Experimental Study of Sloshing-induced Force

摘要
This paper investigates the sloshing-induced global force and moment which are important in simulating ship coupled motion with liquid sloshing in tanks. The investigation is carried out by means of model tests as well as by a linear wave tank based on potential theory. Model experiments are carried out in the setting of rectangular two-dimensional partially filled tanks. The tank section is allowed to have a simple harmonic forced motion in one degree of freedom: sway or roll. Under resonant condition, linear and nonlinear components of sloshing-induced global force ( moment) are concerned. Therefore, the applicability of time domain linear sloshing theory is detailedly discussed by comparing with experimental results.
