Accuracy and precision for sampling and assaying of electronic scrap.

Union Miniere is a smelter and refiner of complex non-ferrous metals bearing materials, in which precious metals play an important part. This paper is focused on the procedure for sampling and assaying of electronic scrap. A statistical study was made on the currently applied method for shredding, streamsampling, particle size reduction, final sample preparation and assaying. Special attention was paid to the reduction of the variance of the different steps. Tests were conducted to validate the accuracy and to improve the precision.
