Measurements and analysis of the He-Xe absorption spectrum in the far infrared

摘要：
Accurate measurements of the translational band were recently performed in the far infrared region on low density He-Xe mixtures. Accurate values of intensity and range of the overlap induced dipole were obtained. A new analysis based on exact quantum line shape computations shows that a term representing the effect of dispersion must be included in the induced dipole, in order to obtain a translational profile which is consistent with the experimental one.
