摘要
A detailed design of a new optical biosensor using polymeric waveguides intended for blood glucose concentration measurements is presented. The device is based on a vertically stacked two-waveguide ARROW structure integrated with an MSM photodetector, simplifying fabrication and avoiding posttuning of sensor parameters. Simulated results obtained for this device represent a significant improvement in performance when compared to conventional Mach-Zehnder sensors. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
