A mass spectrometric study of the thermodynamic properties of mullite

摘要
The Gibbs energy of formation of mullite was determined in the temperature range 1720-2180 K by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry based on the data on the thermodynamic properties of solid phases in the Al2O3-SiO2 system. The obtained negative Gibbs energies of formation of mullite at high temperatures were larger in magnitude than the generally accepted values and correlated with the properties of melts in the Al2O3-SiO2 system determined earlier.
