Surgery of the superior nasal meatus in endoscopic sinus surgery

The purpose of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) for chronic sinusitis is to create effective Ventilation and drainage for the anterior and posterior ethmoid sinuses,frontal sinus, maxillary sinus and sphenoid sinus. A few surgeons give attention to the surgery of the superior nasal meatus in ESS, while in many cases of chronic sinusitis,nasal polyps can be found in the superior nasal meatus. Surgical treatment of the superior nasal meatus is important to maintain the route of ventilation and drainage for the upper sinus group in chronic sinusitis. We report our surgical method of surgery of the superior nasal meatus in ESS.
