摘要
The use of ceramic products (tiles, electrical insulators, sanitary fitting, etc.) in building and structural construction is increasing day by day. Generation of ceramic waste is increased globally due to the fragile nature of ceramic it easily breaks during processing, transportation, and installation. Therefore, researchers are growing interest in using ceramic waste as alternative aggregate materials for construction. While other ceramic product wastes such as sanitary wares and electrical insulators have been extensively investigated, not many findings are available on ceramic wall and floor tiles wastes. Thus, the current study focuses on the mechanical (compression, tensile, flexural, and abrasion) and permeability characterization of waste ceramic wall and floor tiles aggregate concrete. Ceramic tiles were used as crushed coarse aggregate in concrete as a replacement for natural aggregates by the replacement level of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% 20%, and 25%. From the results, it has been observed that ceramic waste enhances the performance of concrete at a certain level of replacement. Ceramic waste has the potential to use in concrete structures at a certain level of replacement to achieve desirable properties. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
