Oxidation kinetics are a complex phenomenon as they involve several elementary processes, related to the microstructure. Conversely this microstructure results from the interplay of all these processes. The role of grain boundary diffusion as a main factor at low temperatures in comparison with other short-circuits remains questionable. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
