Use of the Case Study Method for the Development of Ethical Leadership in the Army

摘要
A case study is traditionally considered to be a suitable method for achieving didactic objectives in the area of ethical education. According to available information, the case study is now used in a wide range of disciplines for various goals. In the theoretical part, the aim of the article is to point out the differences in the understanding of this concept, to present the possibilities of using case studies for the development of ethical leadership in the process of tertiary education of military professionals (commanders and specialists). The article has a character of descriptive study. The main methods for collecting information were the content analysis of professional literature and the attendant observation in the process of education of military professional ethics. Significant results included: a) that several concepts are used in the Czech language in the context of case studies, which can't always be understood as synonyms; b) for the development ethical leadership in the military environment, it is appropriate to use a case study in three forms: as a qualitative research method, a didactic method and a method for collecting data to research the value orientation of the educated individuals. A wider use of the text is offered in the didactic level, as it contains the results obtained on the basis of many years of experience of the authors using the case study method in the teaching of professional ethics. The text contains themes on how to work with the case study in ethical education when training professionals.
