Prospects for the long-term socioeconomic development of Russia

It is not the first time that the prominent Russian economist Academician D.S. L'vov has shared his views about the ways, intermediate results, and prospects of reforming Russia (see, for example, Vestnik RAN, 1999, no. 8). This time he focuses on the problems of long-term development and its fundamentals and goals. This paper, which was delivered at a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is followed by a brief discussion in which many members of the Academy took part.
