Client environment management with XML and web service

This paper explores a design of the client environment management system for manipulation of the downloaded software. We present architecture of the client environment management system, and propose implementation of our architecture. Our proposed system enables the administrator to manage client environment in simple manner. Our architecture is designed for representing client environment by XML document, and storing the document to the client manager server in order to maintain client status. The client can search applications required by each client from application service server. The information for updating and installing software are notified to the client. Due to the notified information, client software is maintained and managed by administrator. Our implemented. system exploits WSDL, SOAP/UDDI of web service architectures, and Java/XML by which the system can be built, independent of the platform. The web service architecture is standard, extendable and flexible, because of XML based implementation.
