摘要
Many models seek to describe the dynamic process of implementing a mobile health (mHealth) monitoring systems for chronic diseases patients in developing countries. However few are designed to empower patients to monitor their health as they concentrate more on information giving and monitoring healthcare workers when are in the field than enabling patients to participate in taking care of their lives. More still, many developing countries are still lacking guidelines to use mobile technology for the delivery of healthcare as they are still using it as a service to support daily tasks such as phoning to make appointments with medical personnel. There is therefore a need for contextualization of mHealth monitoring system model that should be used in developing countries for patients with chronic diseases who regularly take medicine. Most research are silent on how such a monitoring system could be designed, more so little is said about the factors that are needed to contextualize such a model for developing countries. This paper reviewed and synthesized factors of the existing models and frameworks and developed a contextualized model for a persuasive mHealth monitoring system. Results indicated that mobile technology, patients' beliefs, social behaviour, culture, environment, perceived behaviour control and behaviour intension are crucial for the contextualization of mHealth monitoring system.
