摘要
A new all-permanent-magnet ECR ion source has been designed and assembled to produce highly charged ions. Using four iron rings the central B-field is formed to a plateau, which leads to a "volume" type ECR zone. The shape of the B-field plateau and the minimum field strength can be tuned by moving the iron rings. The source can be operated in the frequency range of 10GHz to 14GHz with axial mirror ratios of B-max/B-ECR = 2.8 and B-max/B-ECR = 2 respectively. To achieve a minimum-B configuration we can either use a hexapole or a dodekapole (12fold multipole). Experimental tests will show whether the highest charge states of the ions produced in the source can be increased using a dodekapole.
