摘要
Long term evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced are the promising broadband wireless technology that supports variety of services with higher data rate. To achieve this, the base station uses number of methods like adaptive modulation and coding, varying power levels etc., by using channel quality information (CQI) reported by the end user. In this paper, a new Power Control based burst profile management (BPM) module is introduced at the base station for governing the transmit power and modulation order for the users. This module consists of database of measurements that are created through field trials. When the user's channel condition changes, the BPM module analyzes the current profile of the user and notifies the scheduler about the need of change in the profile based on power boosting based calculations. The base station makes use of calendar disc scheduling (CDS) as it provides better support for power adaptive BPM. Simulation results reveal that the addition of power adaptive BPM with CDS algorithm improves the total goodput and link spectral efficiency and reduces the Packet Loss Rate and delay of the G.729 audio, H.264 video and best effort flows without any loss in fairness index.
