Using the World Wide Web for interactive control of an X-ray diffractometer

摘要
The web-accessible diffractometer is a Philips APD3520 X-ray diffractometer that can be controlled by anyone on the World Wide Web. More than a simulation, remotely-located users submit operating parameters and receive X-ray diffraction patterns through their web browsers. Using the web to control analytic devices enables expanded equipment use in university curricula, provides a new way to share the cost of equipment purchases and fosters long-distance research and teaching collaborations.
