Chemical oxidation kinetics of compact lead sulfide layers in solution

摘要
Compact lead sulfide layers deposited on an insulator (glass) were studied using the potentiometry of redox solution systems, gravimetric and spectrophotometric determination, resistance measurements, and X-ray diffraction with the goal of elucidating the effect of the solution composition (the nature and concentration of an oxidizer and of the alkali concentration) and the process parameters (temperature, oxidation duration) on the kinetics of chemical oxidation. Common features have been found in PbS oxidation in dispersed powders and compact layers. Optimal solution composition and process parameters have been found for the oxidation of compact PbS layers to produce PbO2 with good adhesion to the insulating substrate.
