Theory of Tesla processes in the charging of capacitive energy storages

摘要
Single-wire or wireless charging circuits for capacitive energy storages are associated with Tesla type circuits. These circuits are shown to be equivalent to the Latour doubling circuit. Partial capacitances between the wires, determined by taking account of the influence of the earth, take the role of current-limiting capacitors. The voltage of capacitance charging does not double its value only because of the leakage resistance of the capacitor. Formulae giving the optimum values of all parameters of such circuits have been obtained. It is profitable to apply Tesla circuits at generator frequencies of 20-100 kHz for various applications. In these cases it is necessary to charge the capacitors to high voltages (50 kV or more) with a low frequency of the charge-discharge cycle. The weight and cost of high-voltage current limiters (partial capacitances) are zero. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
