Review of Blattinopsidae (Protorthoptera) with description of new species from the Lower Permian of Niedermoschel (Germany)

A summary of the presently known blattinopsid species is given and diagnostic characters of the three major genera Blattinopsis, Glaphyrophlebia and Stephanopsis are defined. Three species, Stephanopsis mirandus n. comb., Glaphyrophlebia pygmaea n. comb., G. wettinensis n. comb., are removed from their original genus. From the Permian layers of the German fossil site Niedermoschel 100 fossils of Blattinopsidae could be recovered. Five new species are described: Blattinopsis seberi, Glaphyrophlebia jerkenbachi, G. rohwedderi, G. arnulfi, G. parvavena. Representatives of Blattinopsis cf. reticulata and B. cf. ebrrsi could be identified.
