摘要：
The Claremont Tunnel, a key water transmission line in the Oakland metropolitan area, sits astride the Hayward Fault and thus could sustain severe damage in a major earthquake. However, recent seismic upgrades to the facility, including an innovative bypass tunnel spanning the fault's most active zone, help to ensure that water deliveries will continue even in the event of damage.
