Work-up and therapy of cardiac emergencies

The different types of cardiac insufficiency, as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic methods of acute heart failure are discussed. In the case of a cardiological emergency, a fast, target-oriented clinical examination should be performed to determine diagnosis, prognosis and optimal therapy as soon as possible. The first step of the therapy should often be a rapid cardiac resuscitation which will be followed by a long-term treatment of cardiac insufficiency.
