ICT at the ministry of education in Jordan

This paper summarizes the latest efforts of the Ministry of Education in Jordan to reform the educational system to meet the requirements of the knowledge economy, Integrating ICT in the curriculum is the main mechanism used, together with improving other skills and competencies of the students. Several factors are leading to the success of the developed plans: (i) providing teachers and staff with strong foundation in basic ICT skills through the adoption of internationally known standards and certifications, (ii) providing attractive incentives to teachers and staff, and (iii) focusing on the use of ICT in pedagogy. Monitoring and evaluation of the plans by an independent party are of paramount importance to take corrective actions as early as possible.
