摘要
A few years ago the Geographic Information System (GIS) communities understood that the spatial data formats and size will enlarge in the nearly future, and as a consequence there will be a lot of different tools and mechanisms that will do the same things, but in different manners. Since then the need for standardization become a high priority for these Earth Science domains. In particular, the reuse of the existing processing algorithms is very important, due to the fact that there are many operators (developed by different research centers) that provide similar behavior. One possibility is to use the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) services to provide a common interface for all algorithms that are implemented by using these standard guidelines. One main advantage of this approach is to ease the learning process in the geo-spatial domains by offering standardized services for different tools and platforms. This paper highlights the possibility of extending the GreenLand geo-processing services in eLearning domain through the eGLE platform, an interactive tool for creating static and dynamic lessons useful for novice and specialists from Earth Science related domains.
