摘要
In this review, the authors discuss the current state of antibiotic therapy for Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections of the skin and soft tissue, the ear, and the eye, and meningitis. Numerous underlying diseases (eg, cystic fibrosis) and predisposing factors (burns, mechanical ventilation) are Linked to P aeruginosa infections; however, the clinical risk factor most frequently associated with severe infection is neutropenia. The authors describe therapeutic approaches used to treat febrile neutropenic Patients as well as those with AIDS. In all cases, favorable clinical outcome relies on rapid diagnosis and institution of appropriate antibiotic therapy.
