摘要
Due to crucial role of transmission switching in electricity market operation, market monitoring unit concerns about its potential impact on market power. To this end, this paper develops a simulation tool for ex-ante analysis of potential impact of transmission switching on market power. The simulation tool provides an interval in which a market power index (e.g., Herfindahl-Hirschman Index) may vary during market operation. The lower/upper bound of the interval is obtained by solving a competition boundary problem, which minimizes/maximizes the market power index subject to operational constraints of market clearing problem. The simulation results through the IEEE 14-bus case show the applicability of the developed simulation tool.
