摘要
Recent research explain the determinants of eco-innovation for different countries. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of econometric analysis allowing recognizing industry specific determinants. The aim of our research is to use a micro level approach with data from the 2006-2008 Community Innovation Survey, and through OLS estimations determine the drivers of eco-innovation in Portugal at sector level. Results point that in terciary sectors Eco-innovation is more affected by organizational innovations and by market demand, and in secondary sectors by voluntary codes or agreements. The analysis proposed and conclusions in this article will help to improve the innovation system and to identify regulation deficits in Portugal namely on the sectorial regulation for eco-innovation, since it seems that regulation activities are an important driver for eco-innovation. The results highlight the need for innovation policies differentiated by activity sector, rather than a common innovation policy or similar incentives for various sectors.
