Numerical computation for the secondary convection in a Czochralski crystal growing system with a rotating crucible and a static crystal rod

摘要
Transient three-dimensional numerical computations were carried out for the melt flow in a Czochralski system with radiative cooling from the surface of the melt. The conditions of the present calculation are Ra = 10(4), Pr = 0.016, Re-cry = 0, Re-cru = 0, -100 and -150. Asymmetric temperature profiles were obtained even for natural convection under symmetric boundary conditions with oscillatory convection. The oscillation period increased when crucible rotation rate was increased, while an amplitude was decreased. These oscillations of temperature and velocity accompanied the rotation of roll cells in a circumferential direction.
