Seepage line calculation in post-mining slopes

In order to assess the stability of slopes a detailed knowledge of geo-hydraulic circumstances is essential. A synthetic soil-mechanical intersection is employed to outline the approach of calculating the seepage line and water content in a slope at a former open mining pit. Using the two software packages PCGeofim and PCSiWaPro, seepage line, pressure head potentiality, water content and saturation ae calculated. Both tools enable the user to gain a sufficient picture of water content in the slope system and get results for further investigations of slope stability and utilization planning. Sensitivity analysis for hydraulic conductivity shows the need of detailed knowledge of soil parameters.
