EOSINOPHILIC GASTRITIS IN FOUR DOGS

Canine eosinophilic gastritis is a rare pathological condition. The affected subjects may present peripheral eosinophilia, but the final diagnosis is based on the fact that eosinophilic infiltration is found at the gastric mucosa level. The aim of the present study is to describe four cases of eosinophilic gastritis diagnosed over a period of five years. The case history, the endoscopic aspect and the follow-up of every subject is reported. In the described cases, we can observe that eosinophilic gastritis is a severe disease, whose clinical presentation and ultrasound and endoscopic evaluation can arouse a cancer suspicion; nonetheless, the response to the therapy is effective.
